i2i Systems is proud to announce its pivotal role in the *‘5G: Accelerating Smart Aviation (Phase IV)’* Catalyst project, a groundbreaking initiative that was presented at TM Forum’s Digital Transformation World (DTW) 2021. This strategic collaboration, which also involves Oracle Communications, MYCOM OSI, and project champions BT and JT IoT, explores innovative ways to empower Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to offer enterprises greater control over their 5G network experiences.
The *5G: Accelerating Smart Aviation (Phase IV)* project seeks to address the evolving needs of businesses in the aviation sector by enabling them to manage and optimize their 5G connectivity based on specific business objectives. Through this Catalyst, the team developed interfaces and tools that allow enterprises to configure their 5G network experiences and modify those experiences in real-time by applying business policies. These policies are seamlessly mapped to the technical policies within the CSP’s BSS/OSS (Business Support Systems/Operations Support Systems) environment, ensuring full integration and enhanced control.
At the heart of this Catalyst project are two critical use cases that focus on how enterprises can leverage 5G to achieve strategic business outcomes. These include:
1. **Customer Loyalty in the Event of Flight Delays**
This use case examines how an enterprise in the aviation sector, such as an airline or airport operator, can enhance customer experience and loyalty by providing VIP passengers with a premium 5G connectivity experience during disruptions such as flight delays. By modifying parameters on business policies, the enterprise can improve the communication experience for affected customers, thus reinforcing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
2. **Connectivity Revenue Optimization**
In this scenario, enterprises such as airports can optimize their revenue-generating opportunities by dynamically adjusting their 5G network slices. By leveraging real-time data and insights, the business can automatically trigger the CSP to reallocate network resources between internal operational needs and revenue-generating services. This flexibility allows the business to maximize profitability by ensuring that the network is used most efficiently during high-demand periods.
