i2i 5G Core Achieves Enhanced Observability with OpenTelemetry Integration

i2i Systems is proud to announce the successful integration of OpenTelemetry (OTel) Collector for metrics egress into our i2i 5G Core, marking a significant milestone in enhancing observability and performance monitoring for 5G network functions. This integration enables a sophisticated, real-time observability framework, which provides greater visibility into the performance of the i2i Cloud Native 5G Core Stack, ensuring better management and optimization of 5G network operations.

OpenTelemetry, an open-source project hosted under the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), plays a pivotal role in this development. By utilizing OpenTelemetry for metrics egress, we’ve empowered our 5G Core solution to seamlessly collect, process, and visualize performance metrics across various Cloud Native Network Functions (CNFs). This integration significantly improves the ability to monitor system health, analyze network performance, and troubleshoot issues with efficiency, enabling faster resolution and minimizing downtime.

Throughout this effort, i2i Systems collaborated with industry-leading partners, including Red Hat, Intel, and DDOSIFY, to build a robust observability framework. Together, we’ve made substantial advancements in ensuring the easy and effective monitoring of i2i 5G Cloud Native Network Functions (CNFs) data. The integration of OpenTelemetry Operator on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), coupled with Grafana and Looker dashboards for data visualization, further enhances the user experience by providing intuitive and detailed insights into system performance and health.
